Russ Spooner joined American Canning as the Vice President of Operations in November 2021. The position comes onboard at an imperative time as the company expands operations in 2022.

Spooner has more than 30 years of experience across areas of international business, logistics and systems management in both manufacturing and distribution roles.

Co-Founder and COO, Mike Daniel, said, “Two of the most challenging aspects of the aluminum can business are supply chain and logistics. We wanted to find someone with a wealth of knowledge around these critical functions to help us continue to elevate our capabilities.”

The company is preparing a large operational undertaking, in which they will add a second shrink-sleeve line in the coming months and aluminum can manufacturing plant in quarter three.

As the VP of Operations, Spooner will be key in developing the increased operational complexity as well as the growing team throughout this progressive year.

“Russ’ collaborative spirit and willingness to roll up his sleeves makes him a great fit for our rapidly growing business. He will serve as a valuable guide and mentor to our young management team as responsibility increases throughout the expansion,” Daniel said.

Spooner said he is excited to bring his prior knowledge to the company and join them on the appealing new venture of aluminum can manufacturing.

“I just love what I do,” said Spooner. “It was evident to me that American Canning, while it’s growing very quickly, wants to retain an ‘employee-focused’ culture and that is something that is important to me. I believe I am a strong manager, in the sense that I like developing people. I have significant background with systems and I saw tons of opportunities to help make things better. I could see right away where the experience I bring could have a very positive impact here.”

American Canning welcomes this addition to the executive team and looks forward to the benefits he brings to the company and the craft industry as a whole.
